Carolina Fresh Farms, Super-Sod, Buy Sod Incorporated and Greenacres Turf Farm are among the top turf farms in the industry. Their operators explain why they rely on Trimax mowers for productivity, cut quality and long-term reliability.
A Game Changer for Turf Professionals
John Ogle of Carolina Fresh Farms runs Trimax mowers 8 to 10 hours a day, five to five and a half days a week. His father was initially skeptical, but a two-hour demo convinced him to buy a Trimax on the spot. “No comparison to the other brands we were using,” John says. “There is no other brand I know of, and I’ve seen just about every brand that’s made and I don’t think there’s anybody close to them. Nobody. I’m sold.”
Stacey has worked at Super-Sod for over 23 years, and she calls the X-WAM the “Best one I’ve had.” Bill Latter of Buy Sod Incorporated points to durability. “One of them has got some age on it, but it’s like a tank, pretty much bulletproof.” After buying another one recently, he adds, “So far, it’s just been head and shoulders above any other mowers we’ve had experience with.”
Gary Owens of Greenacres Turf Farm found Trimax at a tradeshow in the early 2000s. After a demo, he bought one, and ever since, his entire farm has been mowed with Trimax.
Precision Sets Trimax Apart
For sod growers, precision is essential. Stacey says, “Very reliable, very accurate. Which is essential when you’re mowing sod because we have to get quite low. I just lowered this one down to below an inch, and it’s still very accurate, even that low.” Gary agrees: “Able to get a good close cut without scalping… The clippings come out finer and degrade a lot quicker.”
John sees the benefit in the sod itself. “The way it cuts the grass, we think that our sod is better now than it was before… The better job you do at mowing, the roots grow better, which enables you to harvest your sod earlier. And that’s the name of the game.”
Reliability That Keeps Businesses Moving
Reliability keeps costs low, customers satisfied and equipment out in the field instead of the shop. Gary says, “It’s been a very reliable machine. It’s a heavy-duty machine.”
Stacey puts the maintenance side simply. “These are really sturdy mowers, really great quality. I don’t think I’ve ever replaced a spindle on any of them. You keep ’em greased, you keep ’em clean, and you won’t have any problems.”
John manages over 150 pieces of equipment at Carolina Fresh Farms, so he notices what it costs to keep them running. “Even when a machine gets 5 years old, my maintenance is still a lot less than it would be… The other brands wouldn’t even last 5 years!”
Customer Support That Answers
Gary says Trimax has been there whenever he’s needed help. “Customer support has been fantastic. They’ve come out periodically to look at the equipment and see if there’s anything that we need to do different from a maintenance standpoint… If we do need parts or any issues that come up, they’re right there to address that for sure.”
Stacey’s experience is the same. “The support is excellent. If you have a question, you call and they answer it immediately.” Bill remembers being new to the machine. “Anytime I’ve ever had a question, especially early on when I wasn’t familiar with how to work on the machine, I’ve called and talked to you guys over the telephone, and everybody’s been more than helpful to talk me through every turn of the wrench.”
