Trimax Pegasus at NRPA – The Municipal Mower That’s Second to None

Pegasus at NRPA

The National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) Conference brings together over 4,000 industry professionals from across the country each year to meet, attend seminars, and catch a glimpse of the latest equipment on the market. Last year’s conference was held in Dallas, TX, and this year’s location was in Atlanta, GA- about 30 minutes away from our USA headquarters. The Trimax team recently exhibited at the NRPA Conference in Atlanta and got the chance to talk one-on-one with parks and recreation professionals from across the nation and learn what was most important to them when it came to managing their parks, sports fields, and grounds.

On display in the Trimax booth was the 493 model of the Pegasus S5, the smallest of the Pegasus models, which boasts an impressive 16-foot cutting width. Standing next to the Pegasus were Nathan Lykkegaard and Scott Herron, Trimax’s regional sales reps for the Midwest and Southeast.

Parks and recreation professionals stopping by the Trimax booth frequently asked Nathan and Scott about cut height, tractor compatibility, maintenance, and the cost-comparison of tow behind mowers vs a ride-on machine. We love hearing from our customers and have become a company that loves to solve their problems with our high-quality products.

Below are some common questions we received about the Trimax Pegasus and the solutions we offer for the municipal sector:

What is the cut height range of the Pegasus S5?

The cut height can be easily adjusted from 3/8” to 4 1/3” within minutes by one person.

How do you ensure precise adjustments?

The mower features clearly displayed indicators that guide users in making accurate cut height alterations across all decks. Municipal customers appreciate this convenience, as it allows them to quickly adapt for different mowing conditions, adjusting heights multiple times a day, across sports fields which may have different cut height requirements per field.

What tractor size is required to pull the Trimax Pegasus?

The minimum PTO output needed varies by model, typically starting around 50-60hp dependent on model size. The Pegasus 493 which was displayed in the NRPA booth requires a minimum of 50hp.

What maintenance is needed for the Pegasus S5?

We’re often asked about daily greasing and parts replacement. The Pegasus S5 is designed for minimal maintenance, in fact it has no-daily maintenance requirements! The Pegasus features SteadFAST Sealed Spindles, auto belt tensioning, and sealed Titan Roller Bearings. A new addition as of March 2024, the Titan Roller Bearings have shown remarkable reliability, with zero replacement parts orders received to date – seven months after market release.

What are the cost implications of switching to pull-behind mowers?

Cost is a relevant factor when transitioning from ride-on mowers, especially in the public sector where funding is limited. Trimax has many customer case studies from municipal customers who found that investing in a new tractor and Pegasus S5 is more cost-effective than purchasing a single ride-on mower. Additionally, the ability to disconnect the Trimax equipment allows for versatile tractor use in the off-season.

The Trimax team had a blast at this year’s show talking one-on-one with visitors from across America. We are excited to continue connecting and growing relationships in the municipal sector, and the team cannot wait for next year’s NRPA show in Orlando, FL.!
